National Scholarship

REQUIREMENTS:

  • African American Graduating Senior
  • Cumulative Grand Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale by February 1st in the year of graduation.
  • United States citizen
  • Complete the scholarship Application Form Online
  • Submit a typed essay of no less than 300 words on the topic: “Explain the Benefits You Have Gained through the Contributions of Two (2) Trailblazers of African Descent within the past twenty(20) years, and How It Has Benefited You as a Person.”

Irma A. Fleming Legacy Scholarship 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • African American Graduating Senior
  • Cumulative Grand Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale by February 1st in the year of graduation.

Peola Smith-Smith Educational Leadership Scholarship

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a member of the NANBPWC, Inc.
  • Must be a graduating high school senior or a college undergraduate student.
  • Must major in Education at an accredited college or university.
  • Must demonstrate leadership qualities.
  • Must possess a “B: average or above
  • Must be a United States citizen.
  • Submit a typed essay of no less than 300 words on the topic: “Why Education Is Important To Me.”

Sherelle T. and Timothy T. Carper III Scholarship

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a member of the NANBPWC, Inc.
  • Must be a graduating high school senior or a college undergraduate student.
  • Must major in Education at an accredited college or university.

  • Must be a United States citizen.

Dr. Julianne Malveaux Scholarship

REQUIREMENTS:

  • African American female
  • College sophomore or junior enrolled in an accredited college or university
  • Majors in journalism, economic or related field (public policy, creative writing, etc.)
  • Cumulative Grand Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale by February 1st in the year of graduation.
  • United States citizen
  • Complete the scholarship Application Form Online
  • Submit a typed essay of no less than 500 words on the topic: “Your career plans and their relevance to the Dr. Julianne Malveaux Program Theme: “Black Women’s Hands Can Rock the World”

Callender-Pritchard Legacy Scholarship Scholarship

REQUIREMENTS:

  • African American graduating high school senior or recent high school graduate.
  • Must possess a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale by February 1st.
  • Must complete an official scholarship application online and submit by deadline.
  • Preferred majors: Political Science, Sociology, Black Studies
  • Complete the scholarship Application Form Online
  • Submit a typed essay 300-500 words on the topic: “Throughout the history of the United States, there have been numerous movements to keep certain groups from voting. Recently the John R. Lewis Advanced Voting Rights Act of 2021 is being considered in the U. S. Congress. In your opinion, why is the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act important?”

Woman of Substance Scholarship

REQUIREMENTS:

  • African American female age 35+
  • Must be a United States Citizen
  • Must possess a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale by February 1st.
  • Must complete an official scholarship application online and submit by deadline.
  • Submit a typed essay 300 words on the topic:

Meet our National Director of Education!

Adrian Byrd-Pina

Adrian Byrd-Pina

National Director of Education

Adrian is a lifelong learner and an avid volunteer through her sorority, church, and professional organizations. A Life-Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and a Life-Member of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc. She has served at the national, regional/district, and local office levels of these international professional organizations. She has also served on Boards of Directors for non-profit organizations, contributing to growth and development of young people of color and other programs serving youth in diverse communities. Adrian practices the principles of Servant Leadership. 

With advanced proficiency and years of leadership and expertise in Human Resources, Adrian is a Human Capital Consultant currently focusing on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), including implicit bias, management/employee training, and initiatives to resolve retention and disparity issues. She is also well versed in Executive Coaching and Development, Human Capital Strategy Development, and Execution. 

Adrian holds a B.A. in Secondary Urban Education and Speech Communication from Boston College, as well as a Master’s Degree in Administration, Planning, and Social Policy from Harvard University. In addition, she holds an Advanced Level Executive Certifications from Georgetown University’s, Institute for Transformational Leadership (2021), Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business, Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations, and the University of Michigan Graduate School of Business. Additionally, Adrian is certified as a Qualified Administrator for the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI), holds an Emotional Intelligence Certification, and graduated from Leadership Tomorrow Seattle. 

A life-long desire to be of service to humanity has been the impetus behind the various positions that Adrian has held as a is as a DEI Practitioner, professional development advocate and community volunteer. She strives to be an effective influence whether it is on a micro or macro level.
