Scholarship Criteria
National Scholarship
REQUIREMENTS:
- African American Graduating Senior
- Cumulative Grand Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale by February 1st in the year of graduation.
- United States citizen
- Complete the scholarship Application Form Online
- Submit a typed essay of no less than 300 words on the topic: “Explain the benefits you have gained through the contributions of two (2) trailblazers of African decent (past of contemporary) and how it has benefited you as a person.”
FILING PERIOD: JANUARY 15 TO APRIL 15TH, 2021
The Dr. Blanca Moore-Velez Woman of Substance Scholarship
REQUIREMENTS:
- African American female age 35+
- Undergraduate student enrolled in an accredited college or university
- Cumulative Grand Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale by February 1st in the year of graduation.
- United States citizen
- Complete the scholarship Application Form Online
- Submit a typed essay of no less than 500 words on the topic: “Challenges to the mature student and how I overcame them”
FILING PERIOD: JANUARY 15 TO APRIL 15TH, 2021
Peola Smith-Smith Educational Leadership Scholarship
- Must possess a “B” average or above
- Plans to major in education
- Must provide examples of demonstrated leadership qualities
- Must be a member of the NANBPWC, Inc. Youth Division (current or past)
- Graduating high school senior or college undergraduate student
- Complete the scholarship application form online
- Submit a typed essay of no less than 300 words on the topic: “Why Education Is Important To Me.”
FILING PERIOD: JANUARY 15 TO APRIL 15TH, 2021
Sherelle T. and Timothy T. Carper III Scholarship
- African American single mother (age 18-30)
- Must be a United States citizen.
- Must be woman enrolled in an accredited college/university
- Must major in a STEM, Aviation, Political Science, Communications, or Business Management related field
- Must complete an official scholarship application online and submit by deadline.
FILING PERIOD: JANUARY 15 TO APRIL 15TH, 2021
Dr. Julianne Malveaux Scholarship
REQUIREMENTS:
- African American female
- College sophomore or junior enrolled in an accredited college or university
- Majors in journalism, economic or related field (public policy, creative writing, etc.)
- Cumulative Grand Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale by February 1st in the year of graduation.
- United States citizen
- Complete the scholarship Application Form Online
- Submit a typed essay of no less than 1000 words on the topic: “Your career plans and their relevance to the Dr. Julianne Malveaux Program
