NANBPWC Scholarship Information

National Scholarship

REQUIREMENTS:

  • African American Graduating Senior
  • Cumulative Grand Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale by February 1st in the year of graduation.
  • United States citizen
  • Complete the scholarship Application Form Online
  • Submit a typed essay of no less than 300 words on the topic: “Explain the Benefits You Have Gained through the Contributions of Two (2) Trailblazers of African Descent within the past twenty(20) years, and How It Has Benefited You as a Person.”

Irma A. Fleming Legacy Scholarship 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • African American Graduating Senior
  • Cumulative Grand Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale by February 1st in the year of graduation.
  • United States citizen
  • Complete the scholarship Application Form Online

Peola Smith-Smith Educational Leadership Scholarship

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a member of the NANBPWC, Inc.
  • Must be a graduating high school senior or a college undergraduate student.
  • Must major in Education at an accredited college or university.
  • Must demonstrate leadership qualities.
  • Must possess a “B: average or above
  • Must be a United States citizen.
  • Submit a typed essay of no less than 300 words on the topic: “Why Education Is Important To Me.”

Sherelle T. and Timothy T. Carper III Scholarship

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a member of the NANBPWC, Inc.
  • Must be a graduating high school senior or a college undergraduate student.
  • Must major in Education at an accredited college or university.
  • Must demonstrate leadership qualities.
  • Must possess a “B: average or above
  • Must be a United States citizen.
  • Submit a typed essay of no less than 300 words on the topic: “Why Education Is Important To Me.”

Dr. Julianne Malveaux Scholarship

REQUIREMENTS:

  • African American female
  • College sophomore or junior enrolled in an accredited college or university
  • Majors in journalism, economic or related field (public policy, creative writing, etc.)
  • Cumulative Grand Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale by February 1st in the year of graduation.
  • United States citizen
  • Complete the scholarship Application Form Online
  • Submit a typed essay of no less than 500 words on the topic: “Your career plans and their relevance to the Dr. Julianne Malveaux Program Theme: “Black Women’s Hands Can Rock the World”

Callender-Pritchard Legacy Scholarship Scholarship

REQUIREMENTS:

  • African American graduating high school senior or recent high school graduate.
  • Must possess a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale by February 1st.
  • Must complete an official scholarship application online and submit by deadline.
  • Preferred majors: Political Science, Sociology, Black Studies
  • Complete the scholarship Application Form Online
  • Submit a typed essay 300-500 words on the topic: “Throughout the history of the United States, there have been numerous movements to keep certain groups from voting. Recently the John R. Lewis Advanced Voting Rights Act of 2021 is being considered in the U. S. Congress. In your opinion, why is the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act important?”

REQUIREMENTS:

  • African American female age 35+
  • Must be a United States Citizen
  • Must possess a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale by February 1st.
  • Must complete an official scholarship application online and submit by deadline.
  • Submit a typed essay 300 words on the topic:
    “Challenges of the Mature Student and How I Overcame Them”
